I love capturing all the various moods and elements of an event. Faces in a crowd can tell an intricate story. Here are some recent events I've photographed.
Mushroom Festival. Every fall, Mount Pisgah Arboretum puts on a one-day festival devoted to fungi. Booths, exhibits, live music, food, hay rides, and a creative scarecrow contest, all in a country setting. |
Scandinavian Festival. A four-day festival in Junction City celebrates the heritage of many of its citizens. There are craft and food booths, wandering Vikings, and hours of Scandinavian folk dancing. |
Faerieworlds 2014. A three-day festival at Mount Pisgah celebrates fairytales and folklore with music, art, and lots of wild costumes and activies. |
"Thriller" Flash Mob. All around the world, flash mobs performed Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance at precisely the same moment, and raised money for local charities while they were at it. |
Eugene Celebration 2013. Every year the locals throw a city party that lasts three days, with great music, food, and entertainment. |
Eugene Sunday Streets 2012. For four hours on a beautiful September day, 31 blocks of Eugene are closed to cars and thousands celebrate car-free activities. |
Oregon Country Fair. The Oregon Country Fair is one of my favorite events for photos. An elaborate celebration of creativity and diversity, it's a place where people can be whoever they want to be. |
Bark in the Park 2011. Over 1,000 people and dogs braved impending rain for this Greenhill fundraiser. |
Bark in the Park 2010. Over 900 people and dogs registered for this fun fundraiser in Alton Baker Park in Eugene. |
Eugene Marathon. This year over 8,000 runners participated in this world-renown event. |
Easter Eggs for Dogs. Greenhill Humane Society sponsors a yearly Easter Egg hunt for canines. |
Pet Parade. Part of the Eugene Celebration every year is a parade of festively attired pets and owners. The event benefits the Bearan Foundation, which helps pet owners in need with their vet bills. |
Eugene Celebration Parade. Every September the Eugene Celebration Parade celebrates Eugene's unique brand of diversity. |
Slug Queen Contest. In Eugene, anybody can be queen. Slug Queen, that is. All you have to do dress outrageously, behave eccentrically, and bribe the judges. |
Fourth of July in Brownsville. A three-day weekend party at the Gerber House in Brownsville, Oregon included horseback riding, softball, croquet, creek swimming, pizza and ice cream making, and so much more. |
Big Hogs for Big Dogs. A Greenhill Humane Society adoption event at the Harley Davidson store. |
Classic Car Show. The Emerald Empire Vintage Auto Club showcased some of their shiniest and best at Eugene's Valley River Center. |
Amazon Dog Swim. Before closing up for the winter last fall, Eugene's Amazon Pool opened up a day for dogs to take over the pool. |
Bark in the Park 2009. Over 500 people and dogs registered for this fun fundraiser in Alton Baker Park in Eugene. |
Eugene Marathon. Over 6,000 runners from around the country participated in the third annual Eugene Marathon. |
Eugene Saturday Market. From April through October, this market epitomizes the spirit of diversity in Eugene. |
